Oops!  We had a mistake with the spelling words.  Sorry.  I've been using a year long list that I cut and paste into the newsletter.  For some odd reason, this unit does not match up with the unit in our spelling book!  Click on current week to see the word list.  I'll be sending out a new pdf today as well with the correct words listed.  Our countdown to Christmas break is on.  Please remember to bring a wrapped gift by Thursday for our gift exchange this Friday.  Thank you!

Happy Monday.  Sorry that I didn't update over the weekend.  We were busy every day and evening and I just ran out of time.  In the mornings this week we will be practicing for our concert (Friday at 6:30).  It's going to be a great show.  I'm really excited to see it all come together.  Please bring your student to our classroom at 6:00 sharp.  This is a great time to take pictures before the show.

Our class will be having a gift exchange during our Christmas party next Friday, December 19th.  Boys should bring a wrapped gift for a boy and girls should bring one for a girl.  Please keep the gift amount to around $5. Feel free to email me if you have further questions about this or need ideas.

Our chapters 5 and 6 vocab. test will be Friday.  I've created an account on Quizlet.
Your child can use this to study for the test.  I've demonstrated it in class already.  Click on the link to the right to access my account.

Have a great week!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed time with friends and family.  I've eaten my fill of turkey and pumpkin pie!  I've posted the new spelling words and memory verse on the "current week" page.  This Friday is the family movie night, featuring Frozen, and if you bring a can of food to donate you receive a free bag of popcorn.  See you in class!

We had a great week!  We wrapped up our grammar unit on nouns and finished our science chapter on fossils.  The kids brought in some amazing fossils and rocks that we all enjoyed examining.  We learned how rocks get their colors and even made our own fossils to get a clearer idea of the differences between a mold and a cast.  They turned out really great!  This next week is short again so there won't be a spelling test or a new memory verse.  I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the long weekend.

Looking Ahead....

Can you believe that after this next full week of school will be Thanksgiving break?  Yikes time whizzes by.  I really enjoyed chatting with so many of you at conferences.  I'm blessed to get to teach this amazing group of kids!  We talked during class last week and the kids would like to have a Thanksgiving party.  Dani Crowley, our room mom, has volunteered to help organize something.  We will plan to do something fun together on Wednesday, Nov. 26th before everyone leaves at noon.  If you would like to help, I'll put you in touch with Dani.  I know she would appreciate it!  I've added the page "Current Week" at the top of the blog.  If you click on this it will have the week's spelling list, memory verse, and anything else important for that week's classes.  Be sure to follow the blog by joining with your email address.  Then you will be notified when I add a post or update.  Thanks!

Happy Friday. Today was the last day of the first quarter. I'm going to try to keep all the information you will need for the upcoming week here on this blog, rather than send out a paper newsletter. For next week we are only at school two days; November 12 and 13th. Friday is set aside for parent/teacher conferences. Because it's a strange two-day week, we will not have a new Bible verse or a spelling test.
 Don't Forget:
November 10-No School
November 11- No School (Veteran's Day)
November 14- No School (Parent/Teacher Conferences)
I'm excited to dive into second quarter with a fresh start. Please let me know if there is anything you'd like to see me add to the info here or other feedback you may have related to the classroom. I welcome hearing your suggestions or concerns. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Welcome families! We're off and running in our classroom. I think that everyone is settling in and learning the new systems and routines. Tomorrow is the end of the first quarter. Hard to believe, isn't it? I'm going to see if this is a helpful way to keep you updated on what's happening in the classroom. I haven't maintained a blog before so have patience with me! I will also keep important forms and links to websites that you may want to access. Please feel free to leave comments.
